Chasing Butterflies

If I keep chasing Butterflies
They will continue to elude me
Contribute to my insanity
I don't know how long it will take me
To learn this exceedingly simple lesson
But I can't get you out of my head
And I don't know if that's good or bad

But maybe I'll grow a garden
You'll notice it and come to me
Maybe we'll have transparency
And for once I can be honest
Because you deserve it, we both do
But I don't know how to get
This pain off my chest

I don't know how to
Speak this into existence
So I'll just hold on a little longer
And wait a little more
Grow my garden a little bit
You can let me cry, it's okay
I promise you it's okay

I won't keep chasing butterflies
I want to stop, it's not good for me
And I need to be better
I owe that to everyone
So I'll stop chasing butterflies
Except maybe the pretty ones
Pretty butterflies like you
