Poem 14

Monolith

I met a goddess today
And replayed seventeen years worth of memories
As she cupped my cheek

Instantly, I remembered
My mother coddling me
My first steps
My first friend
My first lover
My first tragedy

Engulfed in a cool flame
I waved my hands at myself like fans
To fan the flames off of me
They didn't hurt
But they left scars

I stood in water that embraced my ankles
But no more, as if the water wouldn't dare
I took prideful steps towards my Goddess
Finally I know what I'm meant to do
Nothing else matters, except for this moment
Where I can place my lips on hers
And forget seventeen years worth of memories
