NATIONAL EMERGENCY

With you here
It's impossible to focus
And the pit in my stomach
Only grows unfortunately bigger
With you here
I can't help but wonder
If you know what it is I know

When I'm here
It's my job to focus
It's my job to work
It's my job to do my job
Doing my due diligence
When it comes to my job

But with you here
All of those expectations shatter
And I know why

You're beautiful
A little too beautiful
You're kind
A little... too kind
You judge me
A little too little
I'm not perfect
And when I break down in front of you
When I'm torn apart
I expect you to be disgusted

I walk lonely miles now
It's no surprise I'm excited to see you
At least, I was, or I am
But it's got a hint of anxiety as well
Anxiety that I'll make you upset
Anxiety that I'll make you disgusted
Anxiety that you'll figure out
That I think you're a little too beautiful
That I think you're a little too kind
That you honestly remind me of someone
Who, a long time ago, used to be mine

Is there any chance you know her?
Is there any chance
You are her?

Do I have any chance with you?

No, that's not what I want
And I know I'm not what you want
But, if I could even feel your hands
I'd know for sure

To be the bright star that you are
To stand upright and shine as you do
It's inspiring, it's admiring
It's beautiful
Just like you
And that's why I want your warmth

But every time I see you
The pit in my stomach grows deeper
Until eventually, I collapse

Now, I'm falling
It's quite endless
Do you see me shaking, do you see me shaking?
Do you see me crying, do you see me crying?
Do you see me, do you see me?

Because when I see you
It's a national emergency
Because you're just a little too beautiful
Because you're just a little too kind
Because you remind me just a little too much
Of someone who used to be mine
